The Coil Slitting Line Process

The metal coil will then be rotated and peeled so that it’s flattened the way you need it to be before it enters into the slitter. As mentioned, a slitter has rotary cutting knives that break the coil apart on both sides, so it reaches the desired width.
Because you are shaving and shaping metal, this process does produce a bit of thin, loopy excess scrap material. Your coil slitting line equipment will have a section, usually a scrap winder, where this material goes. In fact, some facilities sell this excess material to other manufacturers. It is thin and already shaved, so it can be used in different applications that require metal, steel, aluminum, and more.
